Who is an ENT expert?
An ENT expert is a medical doctor who has been trained on the medical and surgical treatment of the structures related to the ear, nose, throat and head-neck. The treatment of diseases in the structures at the ear, nose, nasal passages, sinuses, larynx, mouth cavity, upper pharynx, face and neck (neck masses, thyroid, and salivary glands) falls into the scope of the ENT Department. ENT is one of the oldest medical areas of expertise in the world.
Ear:
An Ear Nose Throat Disease Specialist’s unique field of interest is the ear. This includes hearing disorders, ear infections, balance disorders, facial nerve or head nerve disorders, as well as medical and surgical treatment of congenital diseases and cancers of the outer ear and inner ear.
Nose:
Care of the nasal cavity and sinuses are among the primary tasks of the Ear Nose Throat Specialist. Disorders related to nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, allergies, olfactory and nasal respiratory disorders, and outer appearance of the nose are within the area of interest of the Otorhinolaryngologists.
Throat:
The treatment of laryngeal and upper respiratory and digestive tract or digestive tract diseases are within the specialty area that is specific to the Ear Nose Throat Specialist. Disorders related to voice, respiration and swallowing are included in this.
Head and Neck:
Ear Nose Throat specialists have been trained in the treatment of infectious diseases, tumors (malignant and benign), facial trauma and facial deformities of the head and neck region. They practice cosmetic, plastic and repair surgery applications.
